Persecuted: There is no Freedom of Religion: I have chosen you
“I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hates you”
In John eighteen, we find in verse 18 the phrase “If the world hates you”. Today we find that phrase seemingly in the news. Of course, the news doesn’t quote John eighteen, it doesn’t have too! Still the same thing persists as in our Lord’s day.
There were enemies of our Lord and the faith he preached. He was hated of the world, he said so; matter of fact this phrase continues the first phrase above. He said “ye know that it hated me before it hated you”.
(18) If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you.
(19) If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.
(20) Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also.
Persecuted: There is no Freedom of Religion: Western World Threatened
Further the Lord said “if ye were of the world, the world would love his own”! While we are in the world, that is; those of us Born again by the Spirit of God, redeemed; having received him [John 1, John 3] were given the power to become the Sons of God [John 1]. This doesn’t put us in the world’s corner at all. In fact, it makes Christians a target.
For years, decades even; I have watched the persecuted church overseas. In America the Christians lived a life that came out of a novel. Paradise, which is what many, who immigrated here, thought this country, was. For them, America was that safe haven; away from persecution. In many cases, they were correct. That is until today! We find out since Pres. Obama’s term and his push to open borders, bring in undocumented foreigners, and to welcome the tide of refugees from Syria and elsewhere; that many are Muslim. Among them are many, I say many young Muslim men who are without women and families. This is the same in Europe. The question arose, where are the families, children, and women at? Good question. But maybe the truth is even stranger, these men are all at fighting age. In Germany, from the night of horror in Cologne where over 500 women were molested by a group of young Muslim men, to the recent bombings in Paris; refugees were turning out to be seeds of terror and death. The latest in Germany was a young 17 year old who seriously injured five people and was later shot dead by police.
A 17-year-old Afghan asylum seeker who seriously injured five people on a train in Germany, while shouting “Allahu Akbar,” is shown in an Islamic State video saying, “In the name of Allah, I am a soldier of the Caliphate and am launching a martyrdom operation in Germany… I will slaughter you in your own homes and in the streets.” Gatestone Institute
The news from all over Europe it seems is filled with terror from young Muslims waging Jihad. To deny there is a war with Islam is to deny the truth. Muslim groups in America do not like what is going on nor do they want to be portrayed as possible terrorists. Yet America has had her own share of Muslim terror strikes and the US government works hard to downplay the threat of Islamic terror in this country. However the example of what is going on in Europe is proof the problem is Islamic terror.
Today the Western world is threatened more and more by Islamic Terror, by an influx of Muslims coming into the western hemisphere to bring in their worship and prayers and mosques. More than ever the world is subjected to Islam in a way never before. If it were not for their belief to take over the world, this social jihad of Islam would not have a goal. Simply put, in time through migration and immigration, along with filtering into our cities, schools, and towns; Muslims are here. But along with Islam, when it reaches a majority; then you have persecution of other religions and faiths.
Persecuted: There is no Freedom of Religion: Christians in Muslim nations
I speak directly now to persecution of Christians in Muslim nations. We have seen it ongoing in Egypt, not only before the current Military regime, but under the Muslim brotherhood as well who took power after the Arab spring there. Today Christians are threatened as never before as Muslims in Egypt have a fear and paranoia against Christians. In this latest barrage of persecution they attack any believer who wants to build a house, remodel his own structure, and these Christians certainly cannot build a church. International Christian Concern gave a synopsis in one of its brief’s.
“ICC is, again, infuriated on behalf of the Christians in Egypt who have suffered attack after attack in recent weeks. Mob violence over the suspicion of church construction is plaguing the country at this point. This attack is of particular concern since police officials were aware that it was a house being built and not a church. More needs to be done for these Egyptian citizens. It is imperative that the Egyptian government secures the lives and property of all of its citizens, including and especially Christians.”
Some of our so called allies or friends also have a propensity to persecute Christians and other groups. We have reported on and seen the way the Saudi regime holds public beheadings. We find this truth from the Independent who ran a story headlined Saudi Arabia ‘executes 99th person this year to overtake 2015 rate.’ We find religious persecution worldwide for Christians and other minorities. But in China, WND ran a story on a persecuted Christian Pastor who was imprisoned on ‘trumped up charges of divulging state secrets’. But the Chinese Pastor’s response to this false imprisonment was something to take a lesson from. On his current situation in prison he spoke of ‘rest’!
This is a good place to rest, where I am cut off from the rest of the world and brought closer to God,” the pastor wrote from his jail cell. “I can no longer hear the clamorous noise, but can better listen to the Lord’s voice.”
He continued, “Genuine rest has nothing to do with the environment. No matter if the waves are quiet or the sea roars, our hearts rest in [God], just as a weaned child sleeps in its mother’s arms. I want to thank God for using this special method to give this special gift to our household. Let us accept and enjoy it with a thankful heart.”
Persecuted: There is no Freedom of Religion: Persecution Agenda
In countries like Libya, Syria, Iraq, India, Pakistan, Yemen, Sudan, Nigeria, Indonesia, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and in North Korea; as well as China, there is some form of such persecution. All of these have persecution on their agenda through strict laws. In North Korea, Christianity is outlawed, In China an ongoing crackdown on Christians there has continued unabated. In Muslim countries the use of ‘blasphemy laws’ and other strict sharia brings imprisonment or death.
While the world is going after our Brothers and sisters in Christ, let us pray for them. But let us also put shoes and wings on our prayers by giving money to those Christian organizations that work directly on the ground to help alleviate the suffering of Christians around the world.
Persecuted: There is no Freedom of Religion: Conclusion ‘America’
In America, Christians have seen some persecution. Christians standing up for their faith against LGBT and other infringements has caused a stir in our society. Christians here are not facing the unbearable persecution we find overseas. In fact, I believe that the Church in America is asleep that the very persecution overseas will come to America in full force one day. God will hold the church in America accountable if it is found ‘spiritually’ asleep, a member of the Laodicean church, and or having lost their first love by looking to the world more than our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Let us work while it is day for the night comes when no man can work, that is, work in that harvest field for the Lord. One day, the opportunity to work and to be fruitful by bringing in more to the Kingdom of God will be over.
