Sleep is important, nonetheless; I have spent hours late at night, awake. There is nothing more lonely, that at night when you’re wide awake and cannot sleep. Things change when you cannot sleep. The moments turn into hours, the hours finally meet the dawn, it is then you realize you have a full day ahead. The one problem, you have already spent your day; trying to sleep. In vain, you were still awake when the sun hits the horizon to announce a new day. The day is ready, but you are not!…Dana Glenn Smith on the ‘Writers’ PULSE Blog! It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows: for so he giveth his beloved sleep-Psa 127:2
Americans asleep: Your Sleep habits can kill You
I have a related post Sleep Critical: ‘Inflammation linked to lack; which details a report on this.’ This is a very important aspect of your health life. Although this is not a ‘health site’ or some part thereof, I do like to post such articles that are aimed to help you. We as Americans, have good doctors, good food, good homes, good malls, good lives [pretty much], and the whole world has wanted to come here. Nevertheless, Americans also face another problem, the lack of sleep. Getting only 4 hours of sleep, or getting up every two hours for some reason like going to the bathroom. All these issues that can be related to the lack of sleep entail many things. This article does not cover those issues as to why you don’t sleep.

This is a Sleep Critical portion of your life. That is, you need a good diet, good exercise, and a good sleep habit. These three make up a trio of the healthy system. Now I know I don’t get the recommended 7-8 hours a night of sleep. I have for some twenty years or more lived on a lot less. For an Example Pres. Obama, I believe I recall correctly that he sleeps less than the 7-8 hours nightly recommended. He gets 5-6 hours, if I recall this correctly.

However, the point of this is that as Americans with all that we have been blessed with; have poor health, poor eating habits, and many do not sleep deeply nor long enough. You would think we would sleep better, but the issue is we do not. So we get through the day with many side effects and over time these effects become normal routine. Has anyone called you grouchy today? Been overly depressed? Have you had problems thinking things through, like your mind is a bit dull today?
It doesn’t matter when you hit the gym, just that you get in your daily burn. People who work out regularly sleep better—and longer—than those who don’t-Sleep.org
On the WIBR/WARN Site we have an article which discusses a report on Lack of Sleep and the results of it. The trouble the report found was that this ‘lack thereof’ of sleep can produce many side effects that are detrimental to your health. One of these was Inflammation in your body. This not just like being swelled up from retaining too much water. This is different and very unhealthful.
Plenty of chronic diseases are associated with inflammation, including asthma, inflammatory bowel disease, rheumatoid arthritis, and even certain types of cancer. Even depression has been linked to inflammation, though researchers still continue to investigate the mechanisms that are involved in inflammatory diseases.
Americans asleep: Your Sleep habits can kill You: Biological Clock
Although you do not get enough sleep it does not mean you will get any of the long term effects. But you do need to take heed and look at your own life to find out ways to increase your sleep quotient. I know Melatonin is an important part of your sleep.
Melatonin helps control your sleep-wake cycles. Your body’s internal clock (also known as your circadian rhythm) influences how much melatonin your body makes, as does the amount of light that you’re exposed to each day-IBIB ‘Sleep.org’
The computer or laptop you use so often, sometimes until late at night can literally change your biological clock. Instead of getting sleepy, it with ‘blue light’ can stimulate your system to think it is day when it is night. So what we have done here since we work late at night is to use a program like F.lux; which once installed on your computer, will remove the ‘blue light’ and thus allow your body to believe it is night when it is night. The program is free and you can download it online here. You can also get similar programs, also apps that will fit laptops and notebooks.
f.lux fixes this: it makes the color of your computer’s display adapt to the time of day, warm at night and like sunlight during the day.
It’s even possible that you’re staying up too late because of your computer. You could use f.lux because it makes you sleep better, or you could just use it just because it makes your computer look better. Download F.lux here!
This is one small aspect of your life that you can control. By using a program like this it will help maintain the melatonin in your body. Below is a short explanation on Blue light and melatonin secretion, Sleep source found here.
The circadian rhythm influences the ideal timing of a restorative sleep episode. In diurnal animals, sleepiness increases during the night. REM sleep occurs more during the low part (i.e., near body temperature minimum) of the circadian cycle, whereas slow-wave sleep occurs relatively independently of circadian time.
The internal circadian clock is profoundly influenced by changes in light, since these are its main clues about what time it is. Exposure to even small amounts of light during the night can can suppress melatonin secretion, increase body temperature, and increase cognitive ability. Short pulses of light, at the right moment in the circadian cycle, can significantly ‘reset’ the internal clock. Blue light, in particular, exerts the strongest effect, leading to concerns that electronic media use before bed may interfere with sleep.

We are a people many times of overabundance and use. An example is that Americans drink too much soda and related drinks; all of which can have many adverse effects. One thing I found out is that Soda, especially can keep you from sleeping at night. So be careful how much you drink and when you drink it. Also for many people Coffee or caffeine in drinks can keep you awake. Eating the wrong foods late at night like ice cream, candy, starch, and other items stimulate your system and you stay awake. The high sugar content sends your system on a buzz. You do come down, but why eat things that keep you awake when you want to sleep? A non caffeine tea, water, or a warm glass of milk can help you to become sleepy.
Sweet is the sleep of the labourer whether he eat little or much; and the sufficiency of the wealthy is not suffering him to sleep-Ecc 5:12
