Child Soldiers are children who lost their Innocence!
“Innocence is its own defense”-BENJAMIN FRANKLIN, Poor Richard’s Almanack 1733
On Child Soldiers -Somewhere in the world there is a platoon of innocence that was, yet it is not. It has been infiltrated by worldly schemes, desires, and the plots of evil. Yet in the world, innocence is born anew; waiting, breathlessly for that moment when it is tarnished by the desire of men and the lure of the world. So once taken, it is not regained; but hoped for again! It is in this that we find a former child, now a soldier; who longs to be a true child in all it’s innocence. -Dana Glenn Smith on Child Soldiers and Children fighters ‘Saving Innocence’.
Child Soldiers and Children fighters -Saving Innocence
In a related post on our WIBR/WARN Site we ran an article titled “Fighting for a cause: ‘Iraq’s Child Soldiers'” [see link to it below]. Child soldiers have parents; as do many soldiers, the problem is these soldiers are mere children. But when you live in a country that has been torn with over a decade of war, civil war, and bombings; the innocence slips away. What is more, the tradition of using children to fight is not new. Saddam and the Ayatollah both did it in their war with each other. In Africa we covered stories of children fighting, which occurs in Angola, Sierra Leone, Uganda, and other areas. But the time comes when these kids are tired of the blood and violence. They want to be normal kids.
The Military use of Children is evident in the history of conflicts and wars. During World War One, in the UK, 1/4 of a million children under 18 joined the army. In World war Two, history reveals that children fought throughout Europe, in Warsaw Uprisings, Jewish resistance, and in the Soviet Army. The mom and dad get killed leaving the children to fend for themselves. Many have no choice but to do what it takes to survive. In the war with Hitler, Japan, and Italy; the whole world was swallowed in this battle of battles. It is no wonder the kids fought too, as you would also do!
Child Soldiers and Children fighters -Saving Innocence: Human rights watch
The Human Rights watch works to stop the use of Child soldiers. The boys are used as fighters and the girls are forced into prostitution, i.e. sexual slavery.
Thousands of children are serving as soldiers in armed conflicts around the world. These boys and girls, some as young as 8 years old, serve in government forces and armed opposition groups. They may fight on the front lines, participate in suicide missions, and act as spies, messengers, or lookouts. Girls may be forced into sexual slavery. Many are abducted or recruited by force, while others join out of desperation, believing that armed groups offer their best chance for survival. We are working to prevent the use of child soldiers and to hold accountable the people who send children to fight

October first of 2015, Jo Becker; the advocacy director for the Children’s Rights Division of Human Rights Watch announced the disappointing decision of Pres. Barack Obama continuing to give military assistance to four nations that use ‘Child Soldiers’. Those nations were the Democratic Republic of Congo, Nigeria, Somalia, and South Sudan. She related that ‘Obama has a powerful tool at his disposal’. Instead of stopping the $161 million dollar in US military aid which was slated to be distributed in 2016, he ‘invoked national interest waivers’ to proceed with the aid.
The Child Soldiers Prevention Act – that allows him to withhold US military aid until governments end their exploitation of children in war.
Child Soldiers and Children fighters -Saving Innocence: War Mentality
The ongoing war mentality in the world is hard to defeat. Currently we have NATO, Europe, and with the US help lining up along the border with Russia to prevent anymore invasions like these partners believed Russia did with the Ukraine. Russia on the other hand is currently building up it’s own borders with men, machines, and missiles.
Current reports state that Russia has pulled out of the ‘Treaty on Conventional Forces in Europe’, which was part of a post-Cold war pact aimed at limiting deployment of Troops. No one wanted a replay of the US-Soviet era cold war. Further reports have seen not only past Russian bases further to the south on Russia’s border with the Ukraine, but now in the Russian town of Klintsy 30 miles from Ukraine.
So as it is vital that we allow children to be children with all the innocence we can assure them in today’s militancy, war mongering, and decadent societies; the truth is harder to swallow. It is hard to be innocent when you are subjected to those things happening around the world. Children from Libya, Iraq, Syria, Sudan, Yemen, and much of Africa are in a barrage of war and devastation.
Even a child is known by his doings, whether his work be pure, and whether it be right -Proverbs 20:11
Child Soldiers and Children fighters -Saving Innocence: Beasts of No Nation
Netflix some time ago ventured into movies with one on Child Soldiers. It is a hard look at the issue, that is indeed very disturbing. It is for mature audiences and takes you into the seedy world of the Child soldier. Here is the Trailer for the movie below. I watched the show on Netflix, believe me; get a grip on yourself before you watch this. It makes you hate what is done to these kids. The movie is called Beasts of No Nation! It is based on a work of fiction by the same name written by a young 24 year old, Uzodinma Iweala.
The young author, Iweala had read about the conflict in Sierra Leone while in high school and the use of Child soldiers in that conflict. When he later was at Harvard, he was president of the ‘Africa students’ society’. While there he met a former ‘Ugandan child soldier whom he invited to speak’. He then read “autobiographies of other child soldiers’.
After reading autobiographies of other child soldiers, studying Amnesty International and UN reports and interviewing people who had been through the Nigerian civil war of the 1960s, he wrote the story that became Beasts of No Nation. From a Michelle Pauli Interview of Usodinma Iweala featured in the Guardian.
Beasts of No Nation, A Netflix Original Film. When civil war tears his family apart, a young West African boy is forced to join a unit of mercenary fighters and transform into a child soldier.
It is heartbreaking to see such children harden, kill, maim, and become bloodthirsty killers.
Child Soldiers and Children fighters -Saving Innocence: Children as a Heritage
The true understanding is that the LORD views ‘children as an heritage unto himself’. It is here that as a man trains up a child, so that child will go. Hitler understood this and had the Hitler Youth. Scripture tell us that if we as Fathers and Mothers, train up a Child in the way he ought to go, in scriptural basis and understanding; then when he is old he will not depart from that. But when we raise children up on blood libel, hate, violence, murder, war, and killing; then that child has no understanding other than this. Thankfully, there are those who have escaped such things as a Child soldier. However, the innocence lost is not regained. That same innocence is lost daily in America. Where children learn gang violence, see murder and rape on Television; and learn many other things that destroy innocence. At some point innocence is lost; it is here we grow up and understand the world as an adult. Yet, we must protect our kids and their innocence as long as we can. Then in the proper time and place, we tell these kids the real truth about the world they live in; or they learn it all by themselves. This is usually the case! Mom and Dad are not there to protect you. You have to work to eat. Mom’s not there to cook and clean up after you. Dad is not in front of you telling you should not do this or that. You are grown up, you learn hard facts, and that innocence you once knew is gone!

(3) Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward.
(4) As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth.
(5) Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them: they shall not be ashamed, but they shall speak with the enemies in the gate.
